FADAA Fuses Natural Materials with Modern Decor

Sculptural retail screens made with bio-concrete adorn the Decoration One (D/O) storefront in Aqaba, Jordan. The striking design accents were created by contemporary architecture studio FADAA.

Decoration One specializes in homeware and ornaments that place emphasis on craftspeople, materials, and techniques. The screens that FADAA outfitted the retail space, therefore, fit in perfectly. The design references "traditional mashrabiya screens found in Islamic architecture." The pieces are made with bio-concrete made from crushed shells. In addition to a strong aesthetic presence and innovative sustainable implications, FADAA's bio-concrete retail screens also fill a functional need. They protect D/O's delicate homeware and ornaments from the harsh sunlight that permeates the space.

To bring about "a healthy indoor environment," FADAA also introduces lime-plastered walls and native plants into the contemporary retail space.
