Boat Material Loungers

The Barlovento & Sotavento Chair by DVELAS is Made Using Sail Material

The Barlovento & Sotavento Chair repurposes old sail materials from boats in a stylish and sleek way. Although it could be likened to a traditional beach chair, the design is much more dynamic with its elongated back legs and overall modern appeal. Not to mention that the cloth derived from old and deteriorated sails gives it a nice bit of texture.

Designed by DVELAS, a Spain-based initiative, the Barlovento & Sotavento Chair isn't the first time they have used this material to create furniture. Of course, it could be considered more of a side project than their actual business. According to Design Milk, they "share the knowledge they’ve acquired about the sail material itself and make the material available to third parties." The furniture is often limited edition lines.
