Low-Tech Bathroom Scales

Bamboo + Scale by Lei Shi and Yujie Hong is Intriguingly Hollow

Bamboo + Scale is not today's traditional bathroom scale. First of all, it does away with technology all together. In a world that is becoming increasingly reliant on all things technological, it is intriguing to see designers avoid it at all cost. Yet by doing so, it shows that there are other ways to get along in life. Bamboo + Scale is not only accurate, it is also very stylish.

Designed by Lei Shi and Yujie Hong, Bamboo + Scale uses a single sheet of bamboo. The wood is folded onto itself to create a natural curve. This curve is maintained by notching to a slot in the front. This slot informs the weight. As a person stands on the scale, it pushes forward to indicate a number.
