Ecosystem-Reflected Buildings

The Australian Plantbank Looks Similar to its Surroundings

The Australian Plantbank is a research center that specializes in seed depositories for the botanical gardens. The work from the center is also put on display for visitors, so the architecture firm BVN Donovan wanted to ensure that the design was well-maintained and impressive.

The building is accessed by a longer ramp from the road, which already helps to elevate the place both literally and figuratively. Instead of using a regular driveway, BVN Donovan wanted to make something that would stand out a bit more. For the ceiling sections of where people come in, a mirror has been placed so that visitors can see their reflections. Guests can also have a closer look into the labs of the Australian Plantbank, as these have windows on the front for people to look through. Photo Credits: designboom, donovanhill.au
