Russian Surgeons Construct an Artificial Penis from an Arm

A 39-year-old Russian security guard named Andrew Wardle, born without male reproductive organs, is having an artificial penis made from his arm.

Yes, you read that right; the artificial penis procedure is expected to give the patient a fully functioning reproductive organ. The procedure will be accomplished by taking a large flap of skin with its blood vessels and nerves from the patient's arm, which will then be folded over into the familiar tube shape.

Wardle was born with an ectopic bladder, meaning that his bladder formed on the outside instead of the inside of his body. He was born with testicles, but no actual penis. A successful procedure in his youth moved the bladder safely inside his body, but it's only now as he approaches his 40th birthday that medical science has progressed to the point where can be given a fully functional artificial penis.
