Peeling Dining Tables

Arpan Patel's Art Marries Design Table is Inspired by Indian Weddings

There is a sculptural beauty to the Art Marries Design Table that makes its title super suitable. The peeled effect of the table creates sweeping lines that direct your eyes both above and below the surface of the table -- something that does not happen often since it is usually what rests on that surface that compels us the most. By giving us this new perspective, the Art Marries Design Table makes us question the true purpose of furniture and our surroundings.

Designed by Arpan Patel, who is currently in his final undergraduate year at the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design in Jaipur, the Art Marries Design Table is inspired by traditional Indian marriage (in particular the ceremony of Mehndi and varied cloth folds seen throughout the weddings).
