Parrot's Peter George Discusses App-Controlled Products Coming Soon

A trend the robotics industry is seeing more and more of is app-controlled products. Trend Hunter sat down with Parrot's VP Sales and Marketing Peter George to talk about the recently unveiled Jumping Sumo and Rolling Spider.

The first of the app-controlled products has a kicking leg in the back, which allows it to jump up to 80 cm off the ground onto surfaces like tables and chairs. It also has a camera installed in the front. The second mobile device-controlled minidrone has a button you can push that will make it fly up to 2 ft in the air, and then will hover awaiting your next command.

As George explains, Parrot Minidrones have found two main ways to appeal to their desired audience: simple drones introduce a younger demographic to technology through fun and toys, while a mid-tier prosumer level of drones give average people the power to do amazing things. Their Pilot Academy online community also allows people to connect and see how each other utilizes the technology.
