A Czech company called Pealock has designed an innovative and high-tech bicycle lock that doesn't merely pose a hazard to thieves trying to make off with other people's bikes, but also takes a proactive approach in alerting bike owners via a companion smartphone app.
The Pealock features a loud 110-decibel alarm which is activated in conjunction with a motion sensor. Simultaneously, the Pealock also sends an alert to the user's smartphone app so they can quickly take action and check on their bike. The lock is also rain-resistant and snow-resistant, making it ideal for use with skis and scooters as well.
Currently available for preorder for a price of $154, the Pealock makes intelligent use of the ubiquity of smartphones by using an app-based mechanism to alert users about bike theft attempts, granting them peace of mind and giving burglars a hard time.
