Single-Purpose Museums

The Museum of Apoxyomenos Was Created to House a Single Exhibit

This entire Croatian museum is dedicated to the sole purpose of exhibiting the Apoxyomenos story and statue.

The Athlete of Croatia is a famous bronze sculpture from the Hellenistic period and is the best-preserved out of all the others found of its kind. The statue features an athlete who is scraping his body to clean dust and sweat. The Museum of Apoxymenos was designed after the town chosen as the location that would house the statue. The bronze Greek statue is housed in an enclosed metal casing while the rest of the waterfront property features wooden attributes and bright, colorful walls.

The way the exhibition is set up makes it so that the visitors progress through various rooms until they are led to the famous Greek Statue.
