Zipper-Equipped Antiques

Hu Shaoming is Reconnecting Time with This Antique Artwork

There isn't always much beauty in the wires and motherboards on the insides of favorite tech devices, and thanks to Hu Shaoming's 'Reconnecting Time' exhibit, antique artwork is giving modern electronics a new look.

Stationed in China's Guangzhou Art Academy, Shaoming has dedicated his installation to exposing the intricate mechanical inner workings of four different turn of the century devices. Shaoming spent approximately four months dismantling the delicate insides of an old fashioned clock, a camera, phone and portable video camera for his exhibit. By cleverly using a zipper to subtly seam these devices back together, Shaoming was able to create the most impressive effects of his fascinating antique artwork.
