Whimsical Vehicle Alphabets

This Artist Turns Letters into 'Alphabet Machines'

Taiwan-based Illustrator Kuo Cheng Liao reinvents the alphabet in his series 'Alphabet Machines.' The resulting typography is childlike and adorable.

Each letter is carefully recreated as a vehicle. Some vehicles are real like tanks and helicopters while some modes of transportation come out of the artist's inventive mind. The letter-vehicles all have little smiling men driving them. The little men are facing forwards, upside down and sometimes going backwards and yet their smiles indicate that they are not afraid of the colorful adventure that lies ahead.

The color scheme is vibrant yet soothingly pale. This would be the ideal piece of decor for a little boys nursery, an elementary classroom or a daycare.

Liao hopes to expand his 'Alphabet Machine' project by making the letters 3D.
