While many flock to metropolitan centers in search of job opportunities, finding affordable accommodation can often be challenging, especially in expensive cities like London. From property management company Lowe Guardians in collaboration with Studio Bark, the SHED project offers an eco-friendly solution to young professionals. The housing initiative makes use of vacant buildings to construct a safe and sustainable living alternative for workers, but the SHED could also help refugees and homeless people looking for shelter.
Taking only one day to build, the affordable accommodation can be taken apart and rebuilt in a new location. The SHED is made out of inexpensive and "low-impact materials with a mixture of Oriented Strand Board (OSB), lamb’s wool insulation and a small amount of recycled polyester," all of which are made in the United Kingdom.
