Upcycled Tutu Couture

Aelis FW23 Repurposes Tutus from the Paris Opera

Dandelion seeds and their likeness to ballet tutus sparked the inspiration for the Aelis FW23 collection, which was created in partnership with the Paris Opera.

This Haute Couture Week collection features upcycled tuts from the Paris Opera that have been given a new lease on life. The idea started when Aelis founder Sofia Crocian went to see a friend at the Paris Opera costume department and received some vintage tutus that were no longer in use. As Crociani described, "You could feel their story in each tutu—the movement and power they have experienced."

As a whole, the collection paired the upcycled tutus with other light and airy materials like silk and satin, which also move in an elegant way.
