Snowboard Painting

Action Art by Matt Cheney

There comes a point in every artist's life when ideas fill his head to the brim. Sometimes there's just too much to express that the body feels like exploding.

How many artists can actually feel comfortable going beyond the four walls of their private sanctuary and follow their body's need for extreme action to create their masterpieces? A man by the name of Matt Cheney has successfully integrated action sports with oil painting to create abstract art works. Cheney uses his favorite sports like snowboarding, skateboarding and skydiving to make spontaneous art on canvas.

According to the 25-year old action artist, "By integrating sports that I love however, expressing myself becomes something uniquely different. I often do not know what the final results will be."

His latest work was done in New Hampshire, where he painted a 12' x 8' canvas using his snowboard as a big palette knife.
