More often than not, city design mockups for the future are left in two dimensional form due to their fanciful natures and improbable fruition, yet one company decided to create 3D-printed futuristic architectural concepts to showcase their capabilities to the world. Unveiled during Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada, designers Kyle Gifford, Kelly Root and Anthony Horsley were tapped to conceive the sci-fi metropolises.
Once those plans were mocked up, WhiteClouds stepped in to construct the 3D-printed futuristic architectural concepts. The Ogden, Utah-based company used the ProJet 660 by 3D Systems and multi-material printing Stratasys Connex 500 to achieve such a feat. The results were done up in full color and boasted much detail. All together, WhiteClouds created four models, each one very different from the next.
