Energy-Generating Public Parks

'Windwaker' Produces Energy from the Breeze in Denmark

Instead of keeping the public park separate, this project by Julio Alejandro Romero Alonso and Miguel Angel Lopez Carro merges an energy-generating design with this public space. Usually these two concepts are kept separate, but the designers have very much combined the two here.

The park features sails similar to those one would find on a boat. People are encouraged to interact and take pictures of the designs, instead of treating them as only energy-generating entities. In this way the structures become a piece of art for individuals to admire. Moreover the sails can provide shelter for people in the rain or sun, making them extremely practical for the weather all year round in Denmark. Photo Credits: designboom, miguelangelopez
