Wind Portal is aptly named as it is made up of 5,000 paper windmills. A visually striking interactive art installation, the wind wheels were fixed to an eight foot doorway. They cascade down as though part of a controlled, indoor blizzard. The Wind Portal may allow people to pass through, but not before they are tempted to whirl a few of the wheels along the way.
Created by Najla El Zein Studio in collaboration with lighting designer Maurice Asso from Hilights, the Wind Portal installation was built inside the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England. It was part of the London Design Festival. Although now dissembled, people can hope that the Wind Portal will be erected once again in another city.
