This Plant Can Harness Marine Energy to Produce Green Hydrogen

The wave energy test site of the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering, situated on Jeju Island, has received the installation of a high tech wave energy plant that is designed to be able to generate eco-friendly and completely green hydrogen.

This wave energy device is equipped with a pair of turbine generators that measure in at 1.8 m. With a capacity of 500 kilowatts, this green hydrogen-generating energy plant also happens to leverage digital twin technology that allows for proactive maintenance and operation tasks, further saving on energy footprints and reducing associated costs.

"The basic design of the hydrogen production system has been completed, and we plan to complete manufacturing and onshore performance testing this year," states the latest report from the Ocean Energy Systems division of the International Energy Agency.
