Archie Read’s Sandi Toilet is a Waterless Toilet Alternative

Designers are experimenting with highly creative ideas in order to create more sustainable alternatives for everyday life and this waterless toilet is a great example of this trend.

The Sandi Toilet was created by Archie Read, a recent graduate of Brunel University. The innovation does not need to be hooked up to a sewage system and instead of water, it employs a conveyor belt to "flush" solid waste. It doesn't need plumbing nor electricity to operate. While the waterless toilet is eco-conscious in the way it conserves water, the piece is also a solution for "the hundreds of millions of people who are currently living without safe sanitation." In fact, Archie Read primarily designed Sandi " for rural sub-Saharan Africa, where this problem is particularly acute."
