Eco-Friendly Tech Evaluations

Greenpeace Green Gadgets Report Released (CES 2009)

Electronics are getting greener, but they still have some distance to cover. Greenpeace has high standards for green electronics, so their opinion of the current application of green to technology isn’t exactly stellar. That isn’t to say that they’re pessimistic about the potential.

This year’s CES Show is greener than last, and the industry is welcoming dialog. The results of the Green Electronics Survey are out today. While no one can claim a completely green production, the Lenovo L2440x wide computer monitor scored 6.9 out of a possible 10 points. This is significant since no product scored higher than 5 in 2007.

Other product leaders were the Sharp LC-52GX5 television (5.92), the Samsung F268 mobile phone (5.45), the Nokia 6210 Smart phone (5.2), the Toshiba Portege R600 Notebook (5.57), and the Lenovo ThinkCentre M58 Desktop (5.88).
