Scrapheap Solar Arrays

Southern Sky Renewable Energy Turns a Landfill into a Solar Power Plant

You might have never heard of Canton, Massachusetts, but the town recently teamed up with Southern Sky Renewable Energy in order to build a giant solar array that will put the town on the map in a big way.

Although it was capped over 25 years ago, the town's old landfill site is set to be the site of New England's largest solar power plant. The plan calls for Southern Sky Renewable Energy to construct 24,000 solar panels over the site. Once completed, the solar array is expected to produce 5.6 megawatts of power and to procure over 70 million dollars in revenue and savings for the town over the next few decades.
