Flat-Pack Sack Lighting

The Seed System Ships Light Fixtures in Eco-Friendly Bulk

The Seed System light fixtures are inspired by the way that trees are shipped. Instead of having grown trees travel to their ultimate destinations, the Seed System ships instead to cut costs and increase eco-conscious efforts. The Seed System mimics this process by shipping bulk flat-pack lamps instead of large, static lighting.

Conceived and designed by David Trubridge, the Seed System light fixtures debuted during Wanted Design’s New York Design Week. Essentially, Trubridge created a parametric software program that determined kit sets were the most efficient way to freight his product.

The Seed System light fixtures, as a result, are not only conveniently portable but also easily assembled. I love that the overall look of these hanging lights is like large, knitted sacks.
