Rising Sea Level Photos

These Images Predict How the World Will Look If Climate Change Continues

Climate Central released a series of interactive photos that show the impact that rising sea levels will have if we do nothing about climate change. On the Climate Central website, viewers are invited to explore what some of the world's most iconic landmarks will look like after both a two and four-degree increase. The organization predicts that if we continue on our current path, a four-degree increase will leave many cities buried underwater.

A sharp transition to clean energy however will only allow for a two degree shift in carbon pollution, leaving many of the world's most recognizable spots safe. The images were created by visual artist Nickolay Lamm and used Climate Central’s sea level map data to create realistic depictions of the negative effects of climate change.
