Revolving Houseboats

The ReVolt House is Designed to Get Land Lubbers Out on the Water

"I'm on a boat," is about to take on a whole new meaning thanks to the Dutch students at TU Delft and their ReVolt House. The ReVolt House is a revolving houseboat powered by the sun's rays.

The ReVolt House has rooftop solar panels that capture the sun's energy and convert it into electricity. It can be set to rotate so that it is always in line with the sun, ensuring the most power throughout the day to help get you through night. The ReVolt House seems to be about as big as a large studio apartment, which is kind of small until you remember that it is a revolving solar-powered houseboat.

The students have entered the ReVolt House into the 2012 Solar Decathlon -- a competition that tasks university students around the globe with designing an efficient solar-powered house.
