The P’tit Velib Program in Paris is an Extension of Its Velib Network

It is only a matter of time before more cities follow in the footsteps of Paris, France, introducing their own P’tit Velib program. A bike-sharing network for kids, it addresses the fact that many like to engage in this family-friendly activity and yet do not have the means or the space to let their children own their own bike. The P’tit Velib program also acknowledges traveling families and how convenient it is for them to tour the city on bikes rather than by foot or car.

Implemented in mid-June, the P’tit Velib program is made up of made 300 bikes that can be used by children as young as two. Made by JCDecaux, they come in four sizes including "a pedal-less balance bike for children aged two to four, a bike with stabilisers for ages three to five, and two larger models for children who can already ride and want a bit more independence," reports PSFK.
