The Cablean Sportveld is a sports pitch that converts into a giant solar panel when not in use. At the push of a button it can also be turned into an advertisement.
While many sports arenas and stadiums are fit for a number of different events, this multi-surface field helps the public, the private sector and the environment. It can do this because it uses a trilon system, the same mechanism that makes advertisement hoardings switch between messages. Using strips attached to a 3-sided axel, the Eindhoven pitch serves as an astro-turf sports pitch, a synthetic grass field and a solar farm. In the future it could also be ad space.
