This Carton Furniture Series was originally designed in 1965 by Riki Watanabe and has recently been reproduced by Metropolitan Gallery in Tokyo. Stemming from the origami culture of Japan, the designer wanted to create furniture out of paper that was strong and versatile enough to be used on a daily basis.
The Kids’ Set is made completely out of folded cardboard. It is perfect for kids, as it does not contain adhesives, nails or screws. Furthermore, the stools are strong enough to carry the weight of most adults and all pieces are recyclable.
It is like LEGO and origami coming together in the form of furniture--including being child- and eco-friendly to top it off!
