Temperature-Sensing Computer Locks

Lock if Not Hot Protects Your Computer Using Body Heat

Lock if Not Hot is a new program designed by Didier Stevens that automatically logs you off your computer when the temperature hits a certain point. The program works in conjunction with a new infrared temperature sensor from Phiget that measures temperature without touch.

The temperature at which your computer locks can be customized through the Lock if Not Hot control panel. The program is free to download, but you will need to buy Phiget's IR sensor, which will set you back about $90. Leaving your computer logged on when you are away isn't the worst thing you can do in the world, but it can spell doom if you are computing out in public. Giving an enterprising thief even a minute to steal all of your information could put a serious damper on your day.
