Judge Lets Fate Decide

Flipping Coins To Decide on Case

"Wow! That's a tough one... I know! I'll flip a coin: heads, you can go free; tails, you get death in the electric chair." This is not how the scene actually played out but, perhaps some of the logic was highlighted here. A judge from Gate City, Va. was fired for flipping a coin to decide a case. The outcomes that the coin toss was supposed to determine were a little less life-or-death than above but, still, nobody wants to have a major life decision decided by the mere flip of a coin. It was supposed to choose which parent a child was to spend Christmas with.
