Hywind Park in Scotland Will Boast Five Six-megawatt Turbines

Hywind Park might have been conceived back in 2009, but it is only about to see the light of day now. Approved after years of revisions and stipulations, what was once being touted as the world's first floating wind farm is now being hailed as the largest. Considering how many waves Hywind Park created throughout the years, it's only fitting it take home some kind of accolade of this kind.

Set to be built off the shores of Scotland, Hywind Park was first developed by Norwegian company Statoil. It will consist of five floating six-megawatt turbines, anchored in water over 330 feet deep and placed about 15-22 miles from land. The benefit of such a wind farm is its discreetness even though it will have to overcome other obstacles.
