Composting Vertical Gardens

The Balkonton Garden Contains a Home Compost to Feed Organic Waste

Ideal for urban folk who live in apartments and probably don't have a home compost for food scraps, this small vertical garden has a built in composter. From Dutch designer Ireen Laarakker, the Balkonton provides a solution for those who have a difficult time figuring out where to put their compost.

Still intended for outdoor use (including balconies), the home compost receptacle provides a place for you to put food waste. Currently seeking finances on crowdfunding platform Oneplanetcrowd, the Balkonton was conceived with Amsterdam city dwellers in mind.

The garden has a tube of worms inside that turns food scraps into compost and keeps the soil in better condition compared to other vertical gardens. This also means you won't have to use fertilizer or replace the soil as you would with other gardens.
