The 'Garbage Cafe' Accepts 1kg of Plastic Waste as Payment for Food

There is a staggering amount of plastic waste that is entering landfills every year, however, thanks to the 'Garbage Cafe, 'a new restaurant located in Ambikapur, India, guests can now use this plastic waste to purchase a meal. The progressive cafe is drastically reducing the amount of plastic found on the streets and in landfills by giving it a fiscal value.

The Garbage Cafe was part of an initiative by the Municipal Corporation to incentivize garbage collection while also feeding disadvantaged individuals. This is not the first project the organization has developed, the city also has a road that was constructed entirely from recycled plastic bags and asphalt.

In the future, the organization hopes to expand the project to also give shelter to those in need in exchange for a collection of garbage.
