Music-Interpreting Utensils

The Electrolux Tide Collection Comprises Sound-Initiating Spoons

It's incredible that out of the 30 semi-finalists for the Electrolux Design Lam 2012 competition, five of them explore the enhancement of sound as a way to spice up the experience of eating. The Electrolux Tide concept might be likened to the four others with its innovative audio-based component, but this submission, like the others, approaches the notion in a unique way.

Anne Berit Kigen Bjering's entry comprises an assortment of stirring implements that would aid in the preparation of stovetop meals. They're each equipped with sensors to analyze the temperature and the viscosity of the recipe, in addition to the speed of its churning over heat. Based on these observations, the Electrolux Tide spoons initiate music that's complementary to the culinary venture, playing it through a tablet app and getting eaters in the mood for dinner.
