Youth Farming Programs

BK Farmyards is a Partnership with a High School in Brooklyn

BK Farmyards is a one-acre farming initiative that was conceptualized with the intention of enhancing students' engagement with the environment.

The initiative is working in tandem with the High School for Public Service in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, where students are required to complete a certain number of hours in public service in order to graduate. The one-acre farm will allow them to do this, while also developing produce for 20 families in the community for four months in the first year alone. The initiative will incorporate farming into science, health, art and media classes, and will also offer a summer youth employment program.

This immersive educational initiative works to enhance the skills of the students who will help develop it, and will also benefit the surrounding community.
