Conceived for a Royal College of Art project From Here for Here, these featured writing tools were created when designer Ariane Prin was charged with the task of creating free art supplies for the school's students using school scraps. During one woodshop class, Ariane Prin noticed the piles of sawdust that accumulated in the bin that weren't recycled and combined them with water and flour from the cafeteria to create the perfect casings for pencils. Ariane Prin created the lead out of leftover materials from other departments such as clay, liquid graphite and ink.
These interesting tools are unique and environmentally friendly, as they focus not only on an object but its manufacturing process, making for an overall green initiative.
