# Spiraling Urban Seating Zoran Sunjic's 'Spiro' Adds Ribbon-Like Elegance to Public Places By Marissa Brassfield | Published 2009-07-31 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zoran-sunjic-spiro References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/Gallery/SPIRO-urban-seating/275898) & [zoon-design](http://www.zoon-design.com/) This 'Spiro' [seating system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-seating) was designed by Zoran Sunjic to dress up urban places, and it does so in spades. The [clean, elegant lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strate-bench) of the benches remind me of ribbons. I can imagine Zoran Sunjic's 'Spiro' seating in a variety of settings, but I think it looks best in a field of grass, as in the rendered images featured in the gallery above. Companies that put fun twists on everyday products will be able to overcome appearing mundane. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Innovative Seating Designs:** The 'Spiro' seating system demonstrates a growing trend of unique and aesthetically pleasing seating designs that can be incorporated into public spaces. - **Ribbon-like Aesthetics:** The ribbon-like design of 'Spiro' shows how this aesthetic has the potential to become a popular trend in urban design. - **Outdoor Furniture as Public Art:** 'Spiro' showcases a trend of turning outdoor furniture into artistic installations that can enhance the aesthetics of urban areas. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** Companies in the furniture industry could use the trend of innovative seating designs like 'Spiro' to create unique, visually appealing products that stand out in the market. - **Urban Design:** The trend of turning outdoor furniture into public art could create new opportunities for companies in urban design to create visually stunning and functional installations in public spaces. - **Architecture:** Architects could use unique seating designs such as 'Spiro' as a way to showcase their creativity and enhance the overall aesthetic of their buildings and public spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Spiral-Inspired Minimal Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soul-sculpture-bench.md) - [Inclusive Modular Cityscape Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-bench.md) - [Adaptive Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adp-bench.md) - [Industrial Wrapped Plywood Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indoor-bench.md) - [Playful Public Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-public-seating.md) - [Sculptural Seating Carpets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rondin.md) - [Systematic Seating Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybla-seating-system.md) - [Rotating Solar Powered Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eness-1.md) - [Adaptable Outdoor Seat Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monom-seater-concept.md)
