# Cellphone Caffeine Machines The Zipwhip Textspresso Coffee Maker Takes Java Orders via Text By Sarah Moore | Published 2012-04-18 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zipwhip-textspresso-coffee-maker References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/textspresso-coffee-machine/22165/) & [blog.zipwhip](http://blog.zipwhip.com/) The Zipwhip Textspresso [coffee maker](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/automatic-coffee-machine1) speeds up the process of getting that first -- or tenth, depending on your caffeine intake -- cup of Joe. The machine was originally created to test out the Seattle company's cloud texting program, which allows SMS messages to be transmitted between an Android device and a computer. If one is on their way to the office or out for a lunch break, all they need do is type in their order and [text it to the coffee machine](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/costa-coffee-hypeline), which will brew it up for them and have it hot and ready when they arrive. There is also a plan in the works to install a printer in the machine that prints out the name of the person in need of a coffee fix on edible paper onto the top of the hot drink. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Cloud Texting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new applications that enable SMS messages to be transmitted between devices and machines. - **Smart Appliances:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create more appliances that can be controlled via text or other mobile communication methods. - **Personalized Food and Beverage:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the use of edible paper and other methods to personalize food and drinks. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Coffee Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate technology to enhance the ordering and brewing process for coffee shops. - **Technology Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop software and hardware solutions that enable devices to communicate and perform tasks via text messages. - **Food and Beverage Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Innovate ways to personalize food and drinks, such as printing edible messages or designs on top of hot drinks. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [App-Connected Pod Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kcaf-smart-coffee-machine.md) - [Intuitive Cafe-Inspired Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-specialty-coffee-maker.md) - [Simplistic Interface Espresso Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/javapresso-espresso-machine.md) - [Automated Barista Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/siemens-eq900-beanident-system.md) - [Automated Touchscreen Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philips-3200-automatic-espresso-machine.md) - [Portable Digitized Coffee Brewers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brewster-coffee-machine.md) - [Automated Barista Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breville-oracle-jet.md) - [Centrifugal Connected Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spinn-coffee-maker.md) - [Contactless Control Espresso Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meraki-espresso-machine.md)
