# Rustling Paper Exhibits The Zimoun Packing Paper Installation Focuses on a Sea of Sound By Meghan Young | Published 2014-02-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zimoun-packing-paper References: [psfk](http://www.psfk.com/2014/02/everyday-objects-musical-instruments.html) & [zimoun.net](http://www.zimoun.net/2013-43.html) Although unintentionally so, there is a creepy quality about the Zimoun Packing Paper art installation. While some people may simply see a sea of brown packing paper gently rippling in its own unique way, others might visualize large snaking creatures under its surface that is making it move so. Whatever the case may be, it is undeniable that the Zimoun Packing Paper art installation is mesmerizing. Made up of 43 prepared dc-motors and 31.5 kilograms of packing paper, the Zimoun Packing Paper art installation is the latest [sound experiment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moment-installation) by the Bern-based artist. Located at the Orbital Garden in Switzerland, the effect is an otherworldly and eerie effect. While normally such rustling sounds would be soothing, that is not the case here. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sound Art Installations:** Opportunity for artists to create immersive and innovative sound experiences through art installations. - **Multi-sensory Experiences:** Potential for combining different sensory elements to create captivating and immersive experiences for viewers. - **Ephemeral Art:** Growing interest in temporary and transient art forms that leave a lasting impact on viewers. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art:** Artists can leverage sound and multi-sensory elements to create unique and engaging installations for exhibition spaces. - **Entertainment:** Opportunity for entertainment venues to incorporate sound art installations to enhance visitor experiences and create memorable moments. - **Event Management:** Event planners can explore the use of ephemeral art installations to create remarkable and Instagrammable moments during events and festivals. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Analog Nostalgia Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/back-to-basics-ii.md) - [Physics-Informed Digital Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motion-sculpture.md) - [Mountainous Repurposed Crate Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crate-installation.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Monumental Air Installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iwagumi-air-scape.md) - [Water Movement Sculptural Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inner-waves.md) - [Tubed Immersive Organ-Like Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/organlike-installation.md) - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md)
