The Zigzag Shelf offers a clever solution to stashing tons of different things and comes in a [retractable package](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/walle-stool) that's lightweight and easy to move. In its closed form, Tahsin Emre Eke's [storage system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tumba) is a stack of six ledges, all uniform and rectangular with mod curved corners. Brightly colored dividers are hidden between each rigid layer and become visible once the piece is pulled open. Crossed metal braces at the back of the Zigzag Shelf separate as you create a [taller bookshelf](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twoinone-billy-model). Pivoting latches help to fix the ledge spacing according to the user's preferred height. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Accordion-style Storage:** The trend of accordion-style storage offers a compact and collapsible solution for maximizing space while providing convenience. - **Retractable Furniture:** The trend of retractable furniture provides lightweight and easily movable options for students and individuals in small spaces. - **Modular Shelving:** The trend of modular shelving allows for customizable storage solutions with hidden dividers and adjustable height. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture manufacturing industry can leverage accordion-style storage trends to create innovative and space-saving products. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can incorporate retractable furniture trends to optimize space utilization in small living areas. - **Home Organization:** The home organization industry can explore modular shelving trends to offer customizable storage solutions for individuals with varying needs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Discreet Folding Shelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-shelf.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Flexible Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brickbox-modular-shelving.md) - [Expandable Bookcase Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burrow-index-bookcase.md) - [Customizable Storage Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelved-modular-furniture.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md) - [L-Shaped Stacked Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loft-shelf.md) - [Modular Configuration Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repisa-01.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md)
