# Wise Giant-Sized Sculptures Zhang Huan Crafts Humongous Confucius Figure and Other Works By Jason Soy | Published 2011-12-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zhang-huan References: [booooooom](http://www.booooooom.com/2011/12/19/sculptures-by-artist-zhang-huan/) & [zhanghuan](http://www.zhanghuan.com/) I never thought it would be possible to meet the wise Chinese sage Confucius, but Zhang Huan doesn't just make that reality possible for visitors to his exhibit, he lets viewers encounter a gargantuan-sized Confucius bathing in a water-like solid substance. For those unfamiliar with Zhang Huan, he is a revered Chinese artist who splits his time between Shanghai and New York. He often crafts these elaborate gigantic figures for shows and exhibits and it's safe to say his pieces often cause a scene. After all, how many artists do you know go through the pain and trouble of sculpting every wrinkle and liver spot on their statues of the elderly? It's this kind of ambitiousness Huan brings to every project that makes his work known worldwide. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.6/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Gigantic Art Installations:** Artists use larger-than-life sculptures to grab the attention of viewers. - **Realistic Elderly Sculptures:** Artists make use of intricate details and realism to bring their sculptures to life. - **Multi-cultural Themes:** Artists draw inspiration from different cultures to create unique sculptures. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Sculpture:** Opportunities for artists and sculptors to push the boundaries of their craft. - **Tourism and Events:** Cities and event planners can utilize large-scale art installations to attract visitors. - **Advertising and Marketing:** Brands can use eye-catching sculptures in their campaigns to make a lasting impression. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Outdoor Floral Sculpture Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptures-at-kew-gardens.md) - [Cage-Inspired Arch Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-weiweis-work.md) - [Kilometer-Long Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zaishui-art-museum.md) - [Luxury Fashion Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-fashion-sculpture.md) - [Artist-Designed Sports Statues](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/louis-de-guzman.md) - [Striking Wearable Sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wearable-sculpture-1.md) - [Industrial Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sized.md) - [Cherubic Ceramic Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/avant-arte.md) - [Peace-Centric Oversized Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peace-head.md)
