# Textile-Patterned Trivets Zesch Coasters Interlock to Form Larger Mats for Hot Pots By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-07-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zesch-coasters References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/product/2012/07/Zesch-interlocking-coasters.html) & [michielcornelissen](http://michielcornelissen.com/Zesch_interlocking_coasters_trivets.html) It's wonderful to see a flexibility to dining table accessories, for products like these Zesch Coasters can accommodate the wide variety of different dishes. The way this is accomplished is through the [modular design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-and-chair) of each elegant unit, shaped like a six-pointed star with lovely curling tips. The beauty of the Michiel Cornelissen pieces is that when three are linked together they reveal themselves as [puzzle pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/track-concept) with a perfect fit. Their little loops curve around each other to cover the surface below and between them entirely. This clever [laser-cut pattern from bamboo sheets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/legni-collection) allows clusters of them to come together and form larger trivets of various shapes and sizes. Individually, Zesch Coasters are the ideal dimensions to protect tabletops from single drinking glasses. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 25% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Flexibility in Dining Table Accessories:** Opportunity for designing modular and customizable products that can accommodate a wide variety of dishes. - **Modular Design for Trivets:** Potential for creating trivets with puzzle-like interlocking pieces that can be assembled into various shapes and sizes. - **Laser-cut Patterns for Bamboo Sheets:** Innovation in laser-cutting techniques to create intricate patterns on bamboo sheets for versatile and stylish tabletop accessories. ### Where This Applies - **Tableware Industry:** Opportunity for companies to develop flexible and modular tableware accessories that can cater to different dining needs. - **Home Decor Industry:** Potential for incorporating laser-cut patterns in bamboo sheets to create unique and customizable home decor products. - **Kitchenware Industry:** Innovation opportunity in designing trivets with interlocking pieces for better protection and versatility in the kitchen. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cork Coaster-Integrated Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polka-coffee-table.md) - [Aquatic Beverage Coasters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crab-inspired-coasters.md) - [Color Block Table Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jaunt-tabletop-collection.md) - [Astrological Drinkware Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zodiac-constellation-coasters.md) - [Smart Tabletop Coasters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-tabletop-coaster.md) - [Textile-Topped Table Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tumble-tables.md) - [Modular Porcelain Cups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corcelain.md) - [Modern Customizable Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/customizable-table-design.md) - [Puzzling Geometric Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linked-side-table.md)
