# Accessible Journalist Calendars The Zapaday Site Allows Everyone to Access International Info By Christopher DeLuca | Published 2011-06-13 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zapaday-app References: [springwise](http://www.springwise.com/life_hacks/zapaday/) & [zapaday](http://www.zapaday.com/) The Zapaday site is much like major international news calendars like [Reuters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/newsreading-app) and AFP with one big difference: its information is open and accessible to everyone around the world. The Zapaday site scans the internet to find pertinent news information from over four thousand sources; in the spirit of [open-source collaboration](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stringer-news), the site also allows its users to contribute information much in the same way they would to [Wikipedia](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spiral-social). The Zapaday site is of seminal importance to the rising field of new journalism. More journalists are ensconced in the world of social media and are working for themselves; a tool like Zapaday is invaluable precisely because this new breed of journalist might not have access to information that is traditionally only available via Reuters, AFP or the like. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 8% | Activity: 41% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Internet](https://www.trendhunter.com/internet) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Accessible Journalist Calendars:** The rise of accessible journalist calendars like Zapaday provides a disruptive innovation opportunity for the field of new journalism. - **Open-source Collaboration:** The open-source collaboration model utilized by Zapaday opens up opportunities for disruptive innovation in information-sharing platforms. - **Social Media Integration:** The integration of social media into journalist calendars, exemplified by Zapaday, presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the journalism industry. ### Sectors Adopting This - **New Journalism:** The development of accessible journalist calendars like Zapaday creates disruptive innovation opportunities within the new journalism industry. - **Information-sharing Platforms:** Open-source collaboration models, as demonstrated by Zapaday, offer disruptive innovation opportunities in the information-sharing platform industry. - **Journalism:** The integration of social media into journalist calendars, such as Zapaday, introduces disruptive innovation opportunities for the journalism industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Unconventional Daily Calendars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calendiary.md) - [Interactive News Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/newsflask1.md) - [Instant Calendar Converters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taskzee.md) - [User-Friendly Event Sharing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calendarco.md) - [Direct Journalism Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/noosphere.md) - [Visually Immersive Global News](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/newsflask.md) - [Media Tracking Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/media-tracking.md) - [Democratic Comparative News Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-daily-edit-app.md) - [Collaborative Journal Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shared-journals.md)
