# Visceral Regret Depictions Japanese Illustrator Zain7 Paints Women in a Contemplative State By Jason Soy | Published 2011-11-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zain7 References: [blog.indiesart](http://blog.indiesart.com/2011/11/22/new-gallery-for-zain/) & [zain7.deviantart](http://zain7.deviantart.com/) These Zain7 illustrations do more than just stimulate your eyes; they make you feel. By depicting crowded intimate spaces and vulnerable looking women with contemplative looks on their faces, the Japanese artist gets viewers emotionally invested to feel for his subjects despite not knowing the narrative circumstances that surround each piece. I'm literally going through a surreal mix of visceral feelings just examining each one of Zain7's paintings. In addition to his masterful ability to engage audiences, Zain7 is also highly adept with the use of color. Several of his paintings feature unique lighting which floods canvases with visually pleasing hues of magenta and cyan. This vibrantly subdued color scheme also invokes a dream-like quality to his pieces. He's truly an artist to look out for as I've yet to find another illustrator who can do what Zain7 does. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Emotional Artistic Expression:** Artists can explore the power of emotions and engage viewers through thought-provoking illustrations. - **Unique Color Techniques:** Artists can experiment with unconventional lighting and color schemes to create visually captivating artwork. - **Narrative Ambiguity:** Artists can create intrigue by leaving the narrative circumstances surrounding their artwork open to interpretation. ### Who This Affects Most - **Fine Arts:** Artists and galleries can embrace emotional and visually stunning artwork to captivate audiences and drive sales. - **Illustration:** Illustrators can explore new techniques and styles to create captivating and original artwork. - **Art Education:** Art educators can incorporate lessons on emotional expression and color theory to inspire students and cultivate their artistic talents. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Manga-Style Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hisashi-eguchi.md) - [Human Duality-Themed Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passive-aggression.md) - [Destructive Nature Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/keita-miyazaki.md) - [Dynamic Structural Mirror Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zigzag-collection.md) - [Art-Tech Zine Collaborations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twentynine-zine.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Whimsical Spirit Art Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anima.md)
