Instead, the numerous glowing orbs are fire flies that have been captured through the technique of long exposure. As though they were countless of Tinkerbells searching for Peter Pan in a [deep and dark forest](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-dancer), Yume Cyan captures the spectacular sight for those who haven't had the opportunity to witness it themselves. The glowing gathering occurs every year in the forested area around Nagoya City, Japan. Yume Cyan ventured there last month during the beginning of the rainy season to photograph the wild frenzy of gold fireflies as they mate after thunderstorms. The bioluminescent flash of each insect results in [dotted light trails](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shapes-of-light) that criss-cross the frame. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 91% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/fashion) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/stylephotography) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Long Exposure Photography:** Opportunity to develop new techniques and equipment for capturing stunning visuals through long exposure photography. - **Bioluminescent Technologies:** Potential for leveraging bioluminescent properties in various industries, such as lighting, entertainment, and medical imaging. - **Nature Tourism:** Opportunity to create unique and immersive experiences for tourists interested in witnessing natural phenomena like firefly gatherings. ### Who This Affects Most - **Photography:** Innovation in long exposure photography techniques and equipment to capture captivating images of natural phenomena. - **Lighting:** Exploration of bioluminescent technologies to create energy-efficient and visually appealing lighting solutions. - **Tourism:** Development of nature-based tourism offerings to cater to individuals seeking unique and memorable experiences in natural environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Orb Lighting Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mangrove-island.md) - [Indoor Gardening Glowing Petunias](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firefly-petunia.md) - [Virtual Sakura Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teamlab-forest.md) - [Festive Light Painting Techniques](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-painting-1.md) - [Light Garden Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/imaginarium360.md) - [Immersive Digital Forests](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teamlab-1.md) - [Evening Sky-Inspired Lighting Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evening-sky.md) - [Immersive Light Festivals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lektrik-festival-of-lights.md) - [Tree Branch-Formed Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/celestial-attraction.md)
