The Russian artist hand crafts her works, tediously [rolling and gluing paper](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reflector-sculpture) to a background canvas. Brodskaya takes the art of quilling to the next level with her use of [depth and texture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition) to capture emotion and convey deeper meaning. Quilling can be multi-perceptional with a slight change of angle or lighting. This effortlessly allows the piece to become more dramatic, and for the viewer to engage with the work more personally. Yulia Brodskaya considers the medium a way to convey a certain message, since the technique is so challenging. The artist states, “...this material limitation turned out to be a strength for me: there is the potential to contain thoughts and ideas in unique ways so that the medium can become a significant part of the message.” I sure feel the love from these doves! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Quilling Art:** The use of quilling art for creating portraits provides an opportunity for artists to incorporate innovation in their work by adding depth and texture to evoke emotion and convey deeper meaning. - **Multi-perceptional Art:** The creation of art pieces with multiple perspectives provides an opportunity for artists to create pieces that are more dramatic and more engaging for those who view them. - **Paper Art:** The use of paper for creating art provides an opportunity for artists to convey a certain message in a unique and creative way. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Fine Arts:** The fine arts industry can incorporate quilling art to create innovative pieces that incorporate depth, texture, and emotion to convey deeper meanings and new perspectives. - **Crafts and DIY:** The crafts and DIY industry can incorporate quilling art to create unique and dramatic pieces that provide engaging experiences for their customers. - **Stationery and Greeting Cards:** The stationery and greeting card industry can incorporate quilling art techniques into their products to add depth and texture to their designs to create a more emotional connection with the consumer. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Media Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes.md) - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md) - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Origami-Inspired Porcelain Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saori-matsushita.md) - [Folded Paper Figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clara-von-zweibergk.md) - [Intricate Site-Specific Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-time.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Biology-Inspired Porcelain Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiyuan-xu.md)
