# Spherical Bamboo Scales Designer Yujie Hong and Lei Shi's Bamboo + Scale is Battery-Free By M | Published 2014-05-27 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yujie-hong References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2014/05/26/wooden-weight-calculator/) & [cargocollective](http://cargocollective.com/yujiehong) Designers Yujie Hong and Lei Shi creatively came up with the Bamboo + Scale that doesn't use electricity or battery power to determine your weight. Instead, the circular shape of the Bamboo + Scale puts your weight to use as your body physically show you how much you weigh. The Bamboo + Scale is made from a rounded piece of yellow bamboo that creatively folds in on itself. The top portion of the scale cleverly slides into the bottom of the scale with a wooden tab. Along the tab are the incremental weight measurements and as a person stands on top of the Bamboo + Scale, the person's natural body weight pushes the tab into the bottom part of the scale. However far your body naturally pushes the tab reveals how much you weigh. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.9/10 - Popularity: 100% | Activity: 99% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Related on Trend Hunter - [3D Wood Decals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-wall-cover.md) - [Portable Space-Saving Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-scale.md) - [WiFi Bathroom Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wifi-bathroom-scales.md) - [Numberless Lumber Weigh Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vague-bathroom-scale.md) - [Nutrition-Calculating Food Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-scale.md) - [Modernized Japanese Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/japanese-furniture.md) - [Bamboo Homeless Shelters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-homeless-shelter.md) - [Wooden Console Covers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/game-console-covers.md) - [Sleek Coffee Brewing Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coffee-brewing-scales.md)
