The K House in Tokyo built by Yuji Kimura is a [white-washed design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oku-house), which promotes relaxation with its [private patio sections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sanctum-house).

According to DesignBoom, "since the owner’s requests included an exterior deck space where they could enjoy fresh air, a challenge arose from the fact that several sides of the design are adjacent to noisy streets." Rising to the challenge, the architects built a large wall on one side, so that the patio area could still receive light, but was cut off enough from the road and cars passing by. For those living in a city, a design such as this is ideal for making the most out of a small space. Moreover, it still allows for the owners to enjoy sunlight, which can be difficult to obtain when trying to block noise.
