'Toward a Concrete Utopia' focuses on the bold structures and frameworks — the mementos of the communist movement and the Iron Curtain. The exhibition is a compilation of over 400 drawings, photographs, videos and models that showcase [Brutalist Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fj-apartment) and spacious public spaces of the state. The exhibition is to feature noteworthy work like the interior of the White Mosque (rural Bosnia) and post-earthquake reconstructions in Skopje. The majesty of the Yugoslavian Concrete Architecture is commemorated in New York's Museum of Modern Art and is a notable opportunity for tourists and design-enthusiasts to experience the chilling presence of the fallen regime. In a statement, [MoMA](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-campaign) said that the collection itself is "a manifestation of the radical pluralism, hybrid, and idealism." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.7/10 - Popularity: 98% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Brutalist Architecture:** The exploration of Brutalist Yugoslavian Concrete Architecture presents an opportunity for architects and designers to incorporate the unique style and principles into modern projects. - **Spacious Public Spaces:** The emphasis on spacious public spaces within Yugoslavian Concrete Architecture offers an opportunity for urban planners and developers to create innovative and people-centric designs. - **Radical Pluralism:** The manifestation of radical pluralism in the collection of Yugoslavian Concrete Architecture inspires businesses and brands to embrace diversity and unconventional approaches in their products and services. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** The exploration of Yugoslavian Concrete Architecture provides architects and design firms with a chance to study and adapt the distinctive style for future projects. - **Urban Planning:** The focus on spacious public spaces within Yugoslavian Concrete Architecture offers urban planning firms an opportunity to rethink urban environments and prioritize community-oriented designs. - **Cultural Tourism:** The exhibition of Yugoslavian Concrete Architecture at MoMA creates a potential for cultural tourism, encouraging businesses in the travel and hospitality industry to cater to design enthusiasts seeking unique experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [White Concrete Boxy Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-of-modern-art.md) - [Brutalist Museum Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cantabrian-maritime-museum.md) - [Slim Concrete-Framed Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dday-museum.md) - [Incredibly Bold Design Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/memphis-miami.md) - [Sculptural Design Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pure-exhibition.md) - [Brutalist Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mohmaya.md) - [Brick-Centric Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brick-collection.md) - [Red Concrete Exhibition Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/red-box.md) - [Revived Brutalist Coupes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/koda-1000-mbx.md)
