# Ceiling Fan-Inspired Seats 'Yoyo Furniture' from Juil Kim is Designed to Go Up and Down By Michael Hines | Published 2010-11-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yoyo-furniture References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2010/11/17/up-n-down-n-screwin/) 'Yoyo Furniture' is a unique piece of concept furniture from designer Juil Kim. 'Yoyo Furniture' is designed to be easily raised and lowered by spinning the seat up or down like a wingnut. Height-adjustable chairs are nothing new, but a height-adjusting bench with a design like 'Yoyo Furniture' definitely deserves a look or two. I could see this design being implemented at schools to better seat children at their appropriate heights. **Implications** - The Yoyo Furntiture seats are a fun way to spice up any living space that is sure to pique the interests of parents and children alike. Plus, the pale yellow, neutral color will compliment a variety of home decor. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Height-adjusting Furniture:** There is a growing demand for furniture that can be easily adjusted to suit individual needs and preferences. - **Interactive Furniture:** Designers are exploring new ways to create furniture that is dynamic and engages users in unique ways. - **Multifunctional Furniture:** There is increasing interest in furniture that can serve multiple purposes and adapt to different situations as needed. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can capitalize on the trend for height-adjustable, interactive, and multifunctional furniture by developing new products that meet these demands. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate height-adjusting, interactive, and multifunctional furniture into their designs to create unique and engaging spaces for their clients. - **Educational Furniture:** The trend for height-adjusting furniture presents an opportunity for manufacturers of educational furniture to create products that better suit the needs of students and teachers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Movement Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wobbl-rocking-chair.md) - [Balloon-Like Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seungjin-yang.md) - [Modular Chromatic Child Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kidzilla-chair.md) - [Uniquely Structured Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yay-chair.md) - [Dynamic Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-series.md) - [Pretzel-Like Comfortable Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dohui.md) - [Transforming Child Stool Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipflap-childrens-chair.md) - [Sliding Flatpack Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folio-chair.md) - [Pool Noodle-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-furniture.md)
