A father of three now, James Hong launched Cakey to keep his kids and other youth safe from unsuitable, adult-targeted content on the popular video hosting site. The social media platform does have lots of amazing videos for young people, as evidenced by their recent YouTube Kids app. The Cakey Village project enables children to only watch videos you add in the app or choose from other videos [parents have shared](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shadowshot) on the Cakey website. Very much a work in progress, the YouTube app for kids will prevent youngsters from accidentally stumbling upon content that's too old for them. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 18% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Alpha - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Internet](https://www.trendhunter.com/internet) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Age-appropriate Content:** Apps and software that ensure that young children are not exposed to unsuitable content. - **Online Child Safety:** Online safety measures for children implemented by parents and businesses. - **Kid-friendly Social Media:** Safe and suitable social media platforms and video apps for kids. ### Who This Affects Most - **Parental Control Software:** Innovations that help parents filter and monitor their children's online activity. - **Children's Entertainment:** New age-appropriate and entertaining content for children. - **Digital Citizenship Training:** Educational programs and systems aimed at teaching children how to use digital technology safely. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Kid-Friendly Music Streaming Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/family-link.md) - [Child-Safe Social Media Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/childsafe-social-media-app.md) - [Kid-Friendly Streaming Services](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/parental-watchlists.md) - [Children-Friendly Content Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/youtube-kids-1.md) - [Kid-Safe Music Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kidsafe-music.md) - [Child-Friendly Web Browsers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ursor.md) - [Personalized Child Education Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandbox-group.md) - [Personalized Video Controls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mytube.md) - [Child-Targeted Starter Smartphone Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/screenable-app.md)
